Medical Social Worker

In March 2020, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) temporarily waived certain Medicaid requirements and conditions nationwide. The easing of these rules helped prevent people with Medicaid in Illinois from losing their healthcare coverage during the pandemic.

States will soon be required to restart Medicaid eligibility reviews during a redetermination process. To minimize the number of people that lose health insurance through Medicaid coverage, BCDI has tips to help you through the process.

What you can do:

  • Update your contact information with Medicaid. Make sure they have your most up-to-date mailing address, phone number and email address. This process only takes a few minutes and can be completed by visiting www.medicaid.illinois.gov.
  • Keep an eye on your mailbox. Letters may be sent to you asking to complete renewal information to see if you still qualify for Medicaid.
