Dr. Roberts Associate Medical and Research Director published in Journal of Patient-Reported Outcomes

Dr. Roberts, the Associate Medical and Research Director at BCDI was published in Journal of Patient-Reported Outcomes. The article discusses how setting goals for patients with hemophilia A with one or two goal objectives helped them achieve success at both 6 week and 12 weeks. The Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) was looked at for one and two goals being set. These preliminary findings highlight the potential for further individualization of GAS by allowing participants to select fewer goals than are currently imposed by standard GAS guidelines. Standardized Response Means (SRMs) suggest that one-goal GAS is responsive to change in a clinical population. Further research is recommended in a larger sample where responsiveness of one- and multiple-goal GAS can be compared. Fantastic research that will help us serve our patients on a daily basis.

Drs. Tarantino and Roberts article on the outbreak of Synthetic Cannabinoid-Associated Coagulopathy in Illinois published in the New England Journal of Medicine!

Dr. Tarantino, the Medical Director at BCDI and Dr. Roberts, the Associate Medical and Research Director at BCDI were published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The article discusses the outbreak of synthetic cannabinoid use and the clinically significant coagulopathic symptoms that resulted. The abstract continues to share the symptoms were controlled with use of vitamin K replacement therapy.

Dr. Roberts has article published in the official journal of the World Federation of Hemophilia!

BCDI’s Associate Medical & Research Director, Dr. Jonathan C. Roberts, had an article published in Haemophilia, the Official Journal of the World Federation of Hemophilia. Dr. Robert’s article explains how prophylactic dosing can lead to goal achievement and an improved quality of life.

Dr. Roberts works with UICOMP Residents on research project

BCDI’s Associate Medical & Research Director, Dr. Jonathan C. Roberts, worked with residents Colin Mowrer, MD, and Shanna White, MD, from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP). Dr. Roberts and the students worked together on Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis in a Patient with Hyper IGE Syndrome, Presenting to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with Sepsis. Their poster was included in UICOMP’s Research Day poster session. Nice work, Dr. Roberts!

BCDI Attends NHF’s Washington Days

BCDI participated in the National Hemophilia Foundation’s Washington Days to share the needs of our community with legislators. It was also a kick off event to begin Bleeding Disorders Awareness month!

Dr. Roberts’ Article To Be Featured in Haemophilia Journal

BCDI led a study concerning goal attainment for patients who utilize a Hemophilia Treatment Center. The purpose of the study was to help shift the mindset from ‘What is the Matter’ to ‘What Matters’ and to improve the overall quality of life for patients living with hemophilia.

BCDI’s Associate Medical & Research Director, Dr. Jonathan Roberts, submitted a manuscript of the study and its findings to the Haemophilia Journal, the official journal of the World Federation of Hemophilia, and it was accepted for publication! BCDI’s Grants Manager & Research Coordinator, Sarah, was also a key component to the success of the study. BCDI works continuously to ensure the best quality of life for all patients.

Dr. Tarantino wins NHF’s Excellence in Healthcare Award

BCDI’s Medical Director, Dr. Michael Tarantino, has been honored by the National Hemophilia Foundation! Dr. Tarantino will receive the Excellence in Healthcare Award from NHF at their annual Red Tie Soiree in May.

Dr. Jesudas gives Grand Rounds presentation at OSF

BCDI’s newest Staff Hematologist, Dr. Rohith Jesudas, is already working diligently to educate Peoria area medical professionals on the needs of the bleeding disorders community. Dr. Jesudas presented on ‘Updates on the Challenges in Diagnosis and Treatment of Girls with Bleeding Disorders’ at the Pediatric Grand Rounds at OSF.
