The Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Institute is pleased to announce the promotion of Misty Burke RN, BSN, to Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), which took place effective January 1, 2026. In this expanded role, Burke will oversee all nursing operations, clinical practice standards, and nursing strategies across the organization.

“We are so excited to welcome Misty into this new role,” said BCDI Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Tarantino. “For nearly a decade, Misty has provided exceptional leadership and expertise to our clinical team and for our patients. I am confident that she will continue to elevate BCDI’s comprehensive care delivery as Chief Nursing Officer.”

Burke has starred in a number of roles at BCDI since joining the team as a Nurse Coordinator in November 2016. In her time at BCDI, Burke transitioned into a Nurse Coordinator & Education Nurse role and earned a promotion into the Director of Nursing and Clinical Services position in 2020, which she had fulfilled prior to the move to BCDI’s Chief Nursing Officer.

“I am excited for the opportunity to transition into the CNO role at BCDI,” Burke said. “In my time here, I have been fortunate to work with very strong leaders and an excellent team of professionals.  I look forward to building upon BCDI’s strong foundation while welcoming new opportunities for growth.”

Burke holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University, plus a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the OSF St. Francis College of Nursing. Burke is deeply committed to continuing to build the supportive environment BCDI implements for patients, their families, and BCDI staff.

“In the CNO role, I hope to focus on opportunities for advocacy, education, and staff development which will help us continue to provide the highest level of care for our patients,” Burke said. “I also hope to work with our clinical and professional teams to foster continued growth and success.”

This promotion highlights BCDI’s dedication to strong leadership and the mission of providing the highest level of integrated, family-oriented care, treatment and education for individuals with bleeding, blood clotting and other blood disorders.

“BCDI lives that mission each and every day,” Burke added. “The patients we serve are at the forefront of every decision made.  The passion for the work we do here is contagious.  I think everyone in the office can feel that, and I truly think we are better because of each other.”
