We are excited to share the news that BCDI Advanced Practice Provider Supervisor Kristin Ansteatt, APRN, FNP-BC has been awarded with the 2024 CUREageous AMP Champ Award from Illinois CancerCare Foundation! Kristin received the AMP Champ Award at the CUREageous event on November 22, 2024.
The AMP Champ Award is given each year to a medical professional in the Peoria area who provides exemplary contributions to research, demonstrates outstanding patient care and is moving patient care forward through research support.
THEY SAID IT
BCDI staff members took a moment to congratulate Kristin on the 2024 AMP Champ Award with these thoughts:
BCDI CEO/CMO Dr. Michael Tarantino: “Kristin is very dedicated to this idea of not just sitting on the sidelines, reading other people’s work and applying it. That’s what it really takes to do research; you have to ask questions or think why does this happen? Or why don’t we know about this? Or why does this patient different from the next patient? We can’t overlook things and we can’t generalize things. We really have to customize care for each patient. Kristin actually discovered a new variant of a genetic platelet disorder that leads to cancer. She’s already published several papers and a peer reviewed medical journals that are pretty hard to get articles published in. She doesn’t just read the BCDI mission once in a while, she lives the mission here. Her patients love her. Kristin, thanks for being part of the BCDI family and thank you for making BCI the great institution that it is.”
BCDI Associate Medical/Research Director Dr. Jonathan Roberts: “Kristin goes above and beyond for patients. We can trust that her clinical decision making is sound, which is a huge help as an ally to the clinical care team. When Kristin presents us with a clinical issue or research question, I trust that she has thought about it deeply, and that she’s looked at multiple facets of the question or the problem. She’s doing that because she wants to answer deeper questions that could benefit more than patients she may even encounter in her career. I’m very honored to work with Kristin and am so happy to see recognition for all her hard work, research and everything that she’s done.”
BCDI Advanced Practice Provider Teaghan Dishman, PA-C: “There’s a lot to appreciate about Kristin. I’d say one of the biggest things is that she is a team player, and she always is going above and beyond for her patients. For instance, I know recently she was a little worried about what may have come up with the patient over the weekend. When the patients test results came back on Saturday, she was on her way to the pool to hang out with her family. But she called him personally that day to say, hey, these are your test results and here are the next steps, these are the things that we need to do.”
BCDI Nurse Coordinator Kelsey Kuhel: “We will see a patient in clinic and within 15 minutes, Kristin comes out and she’s like, look at all these great research articles I found about this condition, or you’ll never believe what I just read. That really makes all of us want to do our jobs better. When Kristin comes into work, she’s ready to find answers.”
