BCDI Family Day 2024

BCDI Family Day 2024 is almost here! We are extremely excited to host our patients and their close family members for Family Day on Saturday, July 20 from 10:45 am – 4:00 pm. Inside this article, you will find all of the details about the event that you’ll need to enjoy a day full of education, games and great food!

 

LOCATION

BCDI Family Day 2023 will be hosted at the BCDI campus located at 427 W. Northmoor Rd in Peoria. For those familiar with the BCDI facility, there will be a change in how to enter the parking lot. The usual entrance to BCDI will be closed off to ensure guest safety and flow of traffic during the event. We ask that all guests use the entrance located closest to Knoxville Ave, next to the bus stop- please see the image below for details. This entrance will also be marked with balloons and parking signs at the entrance during the Family Day event. Parking is available in the BCDI lot.

 

AGENDA

10:45 am: We ask that all Family Day guests arrive for registration by 10:45 am. The registration table will be at the front of the BCDI building entrance.

11:00 am– 11:30 am: Welcome message and BCDI update speech by BCDI Chief Executive Officer/Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Tarantino. This presentation will take place in front of the BCDI building, near the tent in the parking lot.

11:30 am – 12:15 pm: Lunch is served in the BCDI parking lot! Located in the tent area, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches will be provided by Brian Barron. Food from Hyvee will also be available, including hot dogs, chicken, potato chips and drinks.

12:30 pm: BCDI programming begins. Adults will head inside the BCDI building to the second floor Conference Room. Teenagers, kids and toddlers will be separated into groups for activities.

  • Adult Education Schedule
    • 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm: BCDI Associate Medical Director/Associate Research Director Dr. Jonathan Roberts presentation.
      • “Therapeutics for Bleeding Disorders and the Treatment Landscape”
    • 1:00 pm – 1:15 pm: Break.
    • 1:15 pm – 1:45 pm: BCDI Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer Becky Burns presentation.
      • “Navigating Patient Assistance and Copay Assistance Schemes”
    • 1:45 pm – 2:00 pm: Break.
    • 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm: BCDI registered dietitian Beth Helmold presentation.
      • “Meeting the Varying Nutritional Needs of Persons with Bleeding Disorders”
  • Teenager Group Schedule
    • 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm: Meet in the food tent in the Parking Lot. Activities include Teens Transition education, tie-die t-shirt project, various carnival activities.
  • Kids Group Schedule
    • 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm: Meet in the food tent in the Parking Lot. Different groups will be created for four activities throughout the afternoon.
      • Barnyard Discoveries (Mobile Truck Trailer Farm Experience) located in the parking lot.
      • Balloon Artist located under the tent in the Parking Lot.
      • Face Paint Artist located in the BCDI atrium.
      • Snack Station located in the BCDI atrium.
  • Toddlers Group Schedule
    • 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm: Parents and guardians drop off toddlers in the BCDI patient lobby. Childcare will be provided by BCDI staff members during this time.

 

 

2:30 pm – 4:00 pm: BCDI Carnival in the Parking Lot

4:00 pm: End of BCDI Family Day

 

VIRTUAL EDUCATION

If you are signed up to partake in the virtual education portion of Family Day, you will have access to the education presentations that take place from 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm. If you would like to virtually attend, we require that you sign up with your email address at our Family Day registration page, found here. Prior to the event, you will receive an email from BCDI with the link to virtually attend the education presentations. You will be able to ask questions during the presentations using the video chat feature.
